The Community Spelling Bee is a FUNdraising event to support Pemi-Baker Literacy.  Pemi-Baker Literacy is a privately funded, non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of individual literacy skills in the greater Plymouth, Bristol and Lincoln areas. We currently offer FREE, one-to-one tutoring and small classes for adults in reading, writing, math, English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL/ESL), preparation for the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET/GED) and basic computer skills.

ORGANIZE A TEAM

• Spelling teams of three (3) may register online or by completing the online registration form and paying the registration fee.

• Anyone aged 15 or older is eligible to participate.

• Pemi-Baker Literacy board and staff are not eligible to participate.

• The number of teams is limited, so sign up today to secure your spot AND get an Early Bird discount!

      REGISTRATION

          Early Bird Registration (by Oct. 7) — $ 60 

          Registration (Oct. 8–21) — $75

 

  SOLICIT SPONSORS

• Team members are asked to raise sponsorship money for their team from the local community or far flung friends and family. A sponsorship form is included to record funds raised via cash or check.

• There is a QR code on the form for Paypal and credit card donations. 

• The form and money raised will be collected at the door the night of the event. 

• Facebook Fundraiser — Create a fundraiser with Pemi-Baker Literacy as the beneficiary.

EARN REWARDS

• “GET OUT OF JAIL FREE” Card — If your team raises $200 or more BEFORE the event you will receive a pass for one misspelled word in the preliminary rounds!

• REDEMPTION — The team who raises the most sponsorship money DURING THE EVENT will also have a chance at redemption in the final spelling round!

CHEER ON A TEAM

• Tickets to the event are $25 per person and cover admission, hors d’ouevres buffet and dessert buffet. A cash bar will also be available the night of the event.
